Pallet Calculator
Plan pallets before your supplier packs: cartons per layer, layers per pallet within your height limit, total weight and the number of pallets for your order.
How it is calculated
Per layer = max(⌊PL ÷ L⌋ × ⌊PW ÷ W⌋, ⌊PL ÷ W⌋ × ⌊PW ÷ L⌋)
Layers = ⌊(Max height − pallet height) ÷ carton height⌋
Per pallet = min(Per layer × Layers, Max weight ÷ carton weight)
Layers = ⌊(Max height − pallet height) ÷ carton height⌋
Per pallet = min(Per layer × Layers, Max weight ÷ carton weight)
The calculator uses a simple column-stack with cartons all facing the same way. Interlocking (brick) patterns trade a little capacity for a much more stable load and are worth asking your packer about for tall pallets.
Packing tips that prevent damage claims
- Keep cartons within the pallet edge — overhang crushes corners.
- Heaviest cartons on the bottom layers.
- Use corner boards, stretch wrap and a top sheet for export loads.
- Check heat-treatment (ISPM 15) marking on wooden pallets for international shipments.
- Confirm the warehouse or carrier height limit — many have strict maximums.
Frequently asked questions
How many EUR pallets fit in a container?
Typically around 11 in a 20' and around 23–24 in a 40' on a single tier, depending on orientation. Standard US pallets fit fewer. Your forwarder can confirm for your exact load.
Do wooden pallets need treatment for export?
Most countries require solid-wood packaging to meet the ISPM 15 standard (heat-treated or fumigated and marked). Plastic and engineered-wood pallets are usually exempt.
